“Civil as an Orange” is a quote from Shakespeare’s play, Much Ado About Nothing - it means that one is actually barely civil - jealous perhaps, maybe not in such a great mood. The humor here, with a coffee mug is that maybe you need that coffee before you’re going to be in a better mood. A little niche and obscure, but it falls into the if you know you know category for the real Shakespeare fans.
the old medieval “illuminated text” style of the word along with the block print orange tree give this design an old Renaissance air perfect for the lover of these great classic theater productions.
